Deutsch

David T. Kessler, born 1950 in New Jersey, is an exceptional artist, who invites the viewer to plunge into his series of dreamlike water landscapes. With a mature technique, which was developed within the photorealistic tradition of the past 25 years, David T. Kessler skillfully approached the phenomenon of water.

Through the usage of aluminium as a background for his painting, and the use of wire brushes, paint brushes and paints, he succeeded in playfully capture the quality of broken light. The delicately made, polished or varnished surface structures create an additional illusion of varying depth. Actual light reflections and transparent layers of color cause the impression of flowing water. For moments the viewer perceives the slight ripple of the water, the silvery gleam between the grasses, engulfed waves and circles, maybe even a soft rippling sound, between carefully weaved structure. His pictures allow a concentration on details, water currents vanish into capricious whirlwinds and reflecting sunbeams raise into flaring flames.

At the present day, David T. Kessler lives and works in Arizona, after he studied at the San Francisco Art Institute. Since 1977, his paintings are internationally exhibited, for example as monographic show at Tokio, Strasbourg, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Scottsdale and New York.
